About African Sky , South African Tour Operator
 

African Sky Safaris and Tours is a South African Tour and Safari operator, which was established in 1998 as a closed corporation in the Republic of South Africa ( Cc No 98/24392/23) African Sky has successfully acted as a Tour and Safari operator in South and Southern Africa since then. Our office is based in Pretoria, the capital of South Africa, from where we co-ordinate safaris and tours which are conducted by us in all corners of Southern Africa. Our tour and safari guides are based in various areas of Southern Africa from Cape Town in South Africa to Livingston in Zambia.

We strive to bring you a unique and memorable Southern African experience through our expertise and our commitment to ensuring each of our clients depart from Southern Africa with memories of a wonderful experience in one of the world’s most remarkable areas. We are members of the Southern African Tourism Services Association (membership number 1145) , and subscribe to their code of conduct. Our management team currently consists of four members. Each member of our management team has years of experience in the Southern African Tourism Industry.

Our Office Team
Riaan Viljoen
(General Manager)

A graduate of the University of Pretoria’s school for economic and business sciences has nine years of experience in the Southern African tourism industry and has spent two years in Europe and the United States.

Here he acquired an understanding of the perceptions and expectations of foreign visitors to South Africa. He founded African Sky Safaris and Tours in 1998 and has since established the company as a provider of quality tourism services in South and Southern Africa.

 
Carel Loubser
(Marketing Manager)

Graduated from the University of Pretoria with a bachelors degree in tourism management and has been involved with all aspects surrounding the management of the company for the past six years.

He has recently assumed the position as marketing manager and is very capable of advising clients and agents about all aspects surrounding travel in the countries of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Mozambique.

 

Analize Loubser
(Operations Manager)

Graduated with a degree in tourism management from the University of South Africa. She has since been involved with all aspects surrounding the operating of tours and safaris in South and Southern Africa. From legal requirements surrounding areas such as registration of guides, transportation, cross border permits and statutory insurance requirements to the scheduling of itineraries and the management of guides and itinerary flow,

 

Dean Kuhn
(Book Keeper)
Dean is a new edition to our team. He is busy qualifying as an accountant and is tasked with ensuring that our books are maintained to the highest standard.

This ensures that our management team always has accurate and up to date financial information.

 

Rentia Grobbelaar
(Office Manager)

Rentia is a very capable office manager who sees to it that all our administration and filing is always immaculate.

She contributes greatly to the efficacies with which we are able to always find necessary documentation and other administrative tasks.

 

Bill Gibbons
(United States Representative)
Bill Gibbons is a retired US Air Force Officer and Airline Captain, who after traveling with African Sky as a client decided to take a more active role in African Tours and Safaris. He has been traveling for more than 50 years and possesses an extensive knowledge of all aspects pertaining to his hobby and passion.

Bill is more of a friend than an agent and can be contacted for detailed information about our operation. He is able to offer advice when planning your holiday in South Africa.

Hennie du Toit - Guide
(Based in Johannesburg/Pretoria)
Hennie has spent much of his life in the African wilderness and has a great understanding of the fauna and flora of our sub continent. He has led a large number of safaris throughout the years and is sure to add value to your experience.

The Kruger National Park is his speciality, and it would be rare to encounter another person who has such an intimate knowledge of this area and its inhabitants.
 

Andrew Harvey - Guide
(Based in Johannesburg/Pretoria)
Andrew Harvey is a registered tourist guide and has been in tourism for nine years, after having first started a career in the banking industry.

He has guided extensively across southern and east Africa, from Cape Town to Nairobi and everywhere in between. He is a keen wildlife photographer and has spent much time guiding photographic and wildlife safaris in many of Africa’s great parks, including the Kruger National Park in South Africa, Etosha in Namibia, and Chobe and the Okavango Delta in Botswana, to mention a few. His love of Africa and its fauna and flora started when he was young, where, as a child growing up on a farm, he spent many years in the bush, observing nature firsthand in his formative years.

 

Mary Anne Finlay - Guide
(Based in Johannesburg/Pretoria)
Mary-Anne has been in the tourism industry for ten years, having a 3 year diploma in Travel and Tourism. She was also a nature guide facilitator for a year, gaining more in depth knowledge of the Bushveld.

She’s a keen photographer and enjoys sharing the great and small elements that the African continent has to offer. Mary-Anne has great passion for not only the South African Bushveld, but the lonely dessert scenery of Namibia, where the stillness is broken by the call of a lonely jackal and the rustic nature of Botswana, Zimbabwe and Zambia, where the lion roars early in the mornings to signal the dawning of a new day

 
Jamie Gretorex - Guide
(Based in Cape Town)
Jamie Greatorex has been guiding in the Western Cape for the last 10 years. He is married and is the father of two boys.  He has extensive knowledge of the Western Cape and is passionate about its history and future.

He is a wine expert and has built up good relations with many wine estates and considers himself a wine specialist. He is actively involved in Cape Town townships and is very happy to introduce guests to township life and culture. In his spare time he plays golf (off a six!) Surfs and spends time with family hiking the beautiful mountains of the Cape!
 
Andre Hamman - Guide
(Based in Johannesburg/Pretoria)
Andre Hamman Andre is an experienced tour guide who has been leading safaris in South Africa for many a year. He is well versed in the ways of the wild and has an exceptional knowledge of most natural and cultural aspects of our country.

Clients who have had the opportunity to travel with him have always been very positive in their evaluation of his abilities and knowledge.
 
Andre Brand - Guide
(Based in Cape Town)
Has been a tour guide for Cape Town and the Western Cape for over nine years.  He has a love for nature and different beautiful landscapes; of which the Western Cape has such a variety; from the Klein Karoo with its Semi-Arid landscape to the Tsikammma Forest.   Working and meeting people from all over the world and traveling our beautiful country makes the life of this Tour Guide very Enjoyable.
 

Karien Kremmer - Guide
(Based in Livingstone)
Karien Kermer born in The Netherlands a very long time ago. Started working in the Tourism Industry in 1973 and moved to Africa for the first time in 1975. In these early days worked and lived in what is now Zimbabwe.

She returned to Europe in the late 70’s and took travelers around the Globe as a Tour Director.  Many countries in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific and the America’s was where  a lot of tours took her to, but Africa was the place she has  always been most passionate about , returning for 5 to 6 tours every year. In 1997 Karien said farewell to her suitcase and settled for good in Zambia where she joined her husband Peter, running Wild Side Tour,  a small incoming Tour Operator. The Zambezi River, the Wildlife, Heritage, Culture, Environment and the Zambian people is what she and her team like to bring as close as possible to every visitor.

 
Joseph Mabuku - Guide
(Based in Livingstone)
Joseph Mabuku  was born and educated in Livingstone. He belongs to the Losi People from the Western Province in Zambia and the Zambezi River. He started working as a tourist guide in 2001 and was trained by the former game warden of Mosi O Tunya National Park.  

Joseph started walking tours, rhino walks  and game drives in the Mosi O Tunya National Park and later became a Victoria Falls, Livingstone and regional guide.  You will enjoy his friendly and helpful manner
 
Amanda Hamman - Guide
(Based in Johannesburg/Pretoria)
Amanda has been a national guide for more than ten years. She is extremely knowledgeable in all areas pertaining to South and South Africa. From the history of the region to the cultures of the various tribes to the habits and behavior of the various mammal, and bird species. Amanda will enrich your traveling experience in our part of the world.
Through the years Amanda has led a countless number of tours with great success. Clients who had the privilege of touring with Amanda has always had only the most positive of feedback.
 
Kobus de Jonge - Guide
(Based in Cape Town)
Kobus is a national guide who has for some years also been involved with the training of young guides and with ensuring that their skills meet statutory requirements. His knowledge and experience is sure to add value to any safari or tour he leads.

Kobus is a trained medic who ensures all of our other guides are proficient in the application of first aid - a necessary pre-caution. He is also an expert safari guide who's knowledge of the fauna and flora of South Africa is seldom rivaled.
 
Louis Geyser - Guide
(Based in Cape Town)
Louis is a trained mathematician , who's passion for Southern Africa has led to his training as a safari and tour guide. Golf is a game that has frustrated and delighted him for many years. He is an expert on the courses of the country and has successfully led many a golf tour.

Louis' exceptional people skills combine with his diverse knowledge base to make him a very capable safari and tour guide who will certainly add value to your South African experience.
 

Tonya Devereux - Guide
(Based in Johannesburg/Pretoria)

Has worked in the tourism industry for 3 years and is a trained tour and field guide.She is  passionate about philosophy, history, culture and nature; with her books always close at hand.

 She loves the adventurous part of guiding, whether it's driving around the game reserves in search of big and small, going on hikes in our beautiful mountain ranges, mountain biking and trekking through our nature reserves, or kayaking in waters where there are crocodiles, hippo's and wonderful bird life; this is where I thrive. 

Although she works with large groups, her favorite tours are with small groups of couples and families where she can personally get to know each person and where she can experience their joy and their holiday with them and hopefully leave as friends.

 

Andrew van der Walt - Guide

Andrew was born and grew up in Namibia where he developed a passion for nature and eco-friendly tourism.

Coming from the friendly country of Namibia he also developed excellent people skills and is passionate about people which obviously makes out most of his daily task. Being involved in the luxury tour-coach industry of Southern Africa for the last 19 years he also gained intimate knowledge of the people the cultures; history and wildlife of Southern Africa.

Over the years he has been involved in safaris to countries like South Africa; Namibia; Botswana; Swaziland;  Mozambique and Zambia and can`t wait to welcome you to Africa to share the rich diversity that Africa offers.

 

Belinda Johnstone - Guide
(Based in Cape Town)
Belinda became a tourist guide in 2000. She is registered to guide in the Western Cape on the many day tours we offer as well as up the Garden Route.

She has mainly guided small private groups of up to 4 people and prefers the personal touch.She loves hiking and walking along the many paths of Table Mountain and time permitting has taken guests on hiking trails. The vineyards is also her specialty.  The feedback is very rewarding as everyone loves our wonderful selection of wines and off course the natural beauty of the area.
